No one is arguing the merits of learning the jab. Its about what judges value more in their scoring of a fight. And its not typically jabs.
Power punches landed per rd tend to lend itself to showing you who the winner is. Check out past compubox numbers & you'll see whoever landed more power punches in 7 or more rds wins the fight maybe ~95% of the time. And when it doesn't line up that way its usually cuz the overall punches landed were massively in favor of the guy landing more power shots.
