Boxing and MMA are different...MMA fighters can't box for 10 rounds..don't have the stamina.

He's a boxer, in the sense that he punches semi-well as part of his arsenal in another sport, sure.

I just don't see a guy who dabbles in checkers, backgammon and connect four..beating a chess player at chess.

Well, there's a million different variables and factors to this, and all it takes is the right circumstances falling right in pace for something shocking like this to happen.
