Default Lakers Requesting Sit Down with Mark Jackson

Fired today, hired tomorrow? It could be happening for Mark Jackson.(well, not that quick) The Golden State Warriors fired Jackson after three seemingly successful years with the club.
Jackson guaranteed Golden State would make the playoffs in his first season, but the Warriors finished 23-43 after the NBA labor lockout. They went 47-35 last season and had a memorable run to the second round of the playoffs, and they were 51-31 this season before losing to the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round.
The Warriors had not made the playoffs in consecutive years since the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons. They had made the playoffs once in 17 years before Jackson.
The Warriors issued this statement:
“It’s never easy to make a decision of this nature,” said Warriors General Manager Bob Myers. “Mark has accomplished many good things during his three years with the organization, including his role in helping elevate this team into a better position than it was when he arrived nearly 36 months ago. We’re appreciative of his dedication and commitment since his arrival and are extremely grateful for his contributions. However, as an organization, we simply feel it’s best to move in a different direction at this time.”
Now it seems the Lake Show want to at least sit down with Jackson for a discussion.
Before jackson became available the short list for the Lakers included; George Karl, Jeff Van Gundy, Kurt Rambis, Byron Scott, John Calipari and Kevin Ollie. The Lakers are considering an interview with Tom Thibodeau but need permission from the Chicago Bulls to talk to him.
There is no clear favorite to replace Mike D’Antoni, who resigned last week after going 67-87 in almost two seasons. He had one more guaranteed year and $4 million on his contract. He received an unspecified amount from the team as part of his resignation.
The Lakers will not have a coach in place before the May 20 draft lottery. They expect to have one hired by the June 26 draft.
The Lakers are coming off their worst season since moving to Los Angeles in 1960, finishing 27-55, 22 games out of a playoff spot.
Details are pending…
