Hbo has shrunk the boxing budget

As the demand for the product has decreased, so has the cost of viewing
Yet Arum was trying to sell this fight to HBO. Only reason why you got it on ESPN was because HBO would only accept Pacquiao-Crawford.

The reality is that Haymon was 10 steps ahead. I don't expect too many posters to admit this now though.

None of this would be possible without Al!

haymon is always ten steps ahead.

yes, his proof of concept made arum's deal possible, but arum is still a step behind.

espn isn't paying for these shows. meanwhile, showtime is paying haymon more than ever and CBS is paying for a huge show once a year as well. FOX will most likely be buying a bigger PBC package in 2018 as well.

What you wrote is just flat out wrong, that's why no one will admit it. HBO put an offer to buy this exact fight and TR rejected it so he can launch the new platform.

Al had a great concept but it was mismanaged as hell. This is much more likely to succeed bc there is a plan for sustainability.

Technically that may be true, but the broader picture is HBO is cutting waaaaay back on the fights they were going to buy, and Arum was getting pi$$ed at his guys only fighting a couple times a year. He saw the writing on the wall, Showtime/PBC were going to own the whole game if he didn't do something big. He certainly seems to be on the right track, but the media-slobbering over this deal is ridiculous. TR hasn't even been on a network yet.

Unimas was never supposed to be a major fight network it was to put on smaller shows.

Their plan is to sign with a network and get paid to put on their fights. The same formula that worked on HBO and Showtime for decades. The only difference is it's now on a basic cable channel. They will be successful for as long as the network wants to stay in the boxing business. PBC was only going to be successful until they ran out of money unless they got someone to pay them.

So because it wasn't a major fight network, there was no plan for sustainability on Unimas? Exactly.

And yes, everyone wants the network to pay. It's why their all pitching their products to them.

PBC was a mess. What is there to thank? Boxing was free way before Haymon was even involved in the sport.
