  • 2Pac & Mike Tyson-Inspired Documentary To Air On ESPN

The world mourned the loss of Tupac Shakur, who was shot on September 7, 1996. 'Pac was shot and killed on his drive away from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, following a bout between friend Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon. Reggie Rock Bythewood, a writer/director from New York, was struck by the events of that night, inspired to create One Night in Vegas, a film said to connect the world of sports with the culture of Hip Hop using the friendship between Tyson and Tupac as a point of focus.
One Night in Vegas will be shown as part of ESPN's 30 for 30. The documentary has full cooperation from Tyson and has been billed as an homage to classic boxing films such as “Requiem For A Heavyweight,” and “The Harder They Fall.” For Blythewood, this film will also feature some social commentary.
"I am extremely excited that ESPN will allow me to hold a mirror up to the boxing world, a mirror up to Hip Hop, and ultimately, a mirror up to society," the director said in a statement.
One Night in Vegas will premier on ESPN on September 7 at 8pm. It will re-air on the same night at 11pm on ESPN2 and on September 9 at 10pm on ESPN Classic and finally on September 30 at 9pm on ESPN2.
