Throughout boxing history the young lion has always beaten the faded past prime fighter soon to be 36. Canelo has a 9 year age advantage and still lost the fight clearly. Pretty sad.

Boxing needed canelo to ascend, this fight showed canelo ain't elite, never was and why he chased smaller fighters, created his own weight class to hide in....He's supposed to be the future but after that fight, he has a one year window before the air gets too thin, had he avenged Lara, fought andrade, fought a charlo, then he wouldn't have those shadows chasing him to 160, bad enough GGG ain't go as planned with him clearly losing 8-9 rounds....canelo is looking like food out here, as his speed n skills slip with weight

There are many sides to this argument. As someone who underestimated Canelo and considered him to be getting ko'd that night I have given him both credit and criticism alike. If the kid could improve his stamina he'd certainly be elite and if he also learned how to fight on the retreat as well. His stamina is the biggest detractor for him.

GGG isn't shot or completely past his prime, he still has a lot of ring activity left. Sure, he's not at this best, and one can argue it's also due to him finally fighting better guys, but he's still a top P4P fighter. Add that to the fact that Canelo isn't some out of this world talent ala Mayweather, Pacquiao, or Roy Jones.
