I got some rare footage of Harry Wills fighting Luis Angel Firpo. It is 2 minutes of the fight and it looks as if Wills is hitting Firpo on the break and knocking him down but the ref acts as if everything is fine. I'm almost certain it was based on what I saw of Wills in the video. I can't be one hundred percent sure, but it appears the tree manager did get in a free one on Firpo. Excellent video and not one I have seen before. I would love to see more perhaps with Dempsey?

I voted no. Was it on the break. Yesss. Technically I suppose it shouldn't have been thrown - but it was really close and the "protect yourself at all times rule" comes into play. I don't think it was a blatant foul.

The ref saw it and didn't react to it, so in those pre-neutral corner days, I don't think it would have raised many eyebrows.

Looks like a foul to me..

Never the fleetest of feet, Harry was very awkward and gained a bit of a rep for sucker punching, and got dq'd for it in a few of his fights, and i suspect there'd be a few more had it not been for the out-dated rules and newspaper decisions in place at the time. Saw shades of a black Tyson Fury in that vid.
