"The winner of Crawford vs. Indongo was ordered, by the IBF, to face mandatory challenger Sergey Lipinets (12-0, 10 KO).
There was very little time to make Crawford vs. Lipinets happen, as Lipinets promoter Tom Brown bypassed the negotiations period and requested an immediate purse bid - which the sanctioning body scheduled for August 31"

Sure we might look at the situation and say that Bud is "ducking" but Lipinets and his camp surely are not trying to make the fight by going to purse bid less than 2 weeks after Bud last fight.
This move by Lipinets camp is surprising since there is probably more money in trying to get the belt from Bud than getting it fighting an "unknown" guy especially considering the fact that Bud might no longer be at 140 once Lipinets wants to unify.

He's making a potential BIG move, he's gonna debut in the WW division by winning a belt from Horn or Pac next year. And if his contract is up with TR he can establish his own promotion and sign with Uncle Al and maximize his earnings. Which would generate more "haters (tiki torch people)" which = more $$$.

Crawford should fight Jessie Vargas at WW.

Crawford's last 3 opponents have not been with Top Rank. I think Crawford is still moving to 147, he just vacated the belt because the IBF would have stripped it anyway. Vacated sounds better than stripped.

When you're a superstar, like Bud clearly is now, you don't take orders like participating in a purse bid 3 weeks after you fought. If anyone honestly thinks Bud is afraid of lipinets, or any other fighter at 140, they clearly know nothing about boxing.

I'm pretty sure Canelo and GB had more than 3 weeks to make the fight. That time started when he beat Cotto for the belt and then got to fight Khan. They could have struck a deal in between that time and announced the fight after the Khan fight in the same way they did after he fought Chavez.

Wonder who will be the next guy to take over 140. We had Bradley, then Garcia, then Crawford. Maybe Mikey?

Mikey up next it would be amazing if he fought Crawford but politics will prevent that

As expected! Nothing left to prove at 140 really, should drop all and move up but might take one more at 140 in Nebraska. Amir Imam is his WBC Mandatory they will likely order that soon as well. People are upset with Lipinets he haven't done anything wrong, he stepped aside and allowed the Unification and now it is his time to become World Champion! It is nothing personal! He earned his position and is looking to get a belt and become World Champion himself!
