Fighters develop relationships with their fanbase over time so it isn't surprising that Americans would be more of a fan of Joshua if he were American.
He'd be someone we watched as an amateur as a kid, at the Olympics, and would've had all his fights on SHO or HBO so we'd know him better, for a longer time and have grown with him.
To expect American fans or any fans to have the same relationship with a fighter they just watched for the 1st time 2 years ago as they would someone they watched for 10+ years is ******ed.
