My internet only works if my phone is off the hook

Why is this? I have had at&t dsl for the last several years. A few days ago we got a decent storm pass by and i am not sure if it is just a coincidence or that had something to do with it but my internet is weird. The dsl will not connect unless you have the phone off the hook, if you hang it up it keeps on trying to connect and never does. Does anyone know the problem?

Change the channel on your phone. Are you using aireless? Anyway, it doesn't matter. I've had this problem before, change the channel.
