From the Bhop fight to the 2nd Dre fight, Kovalev fought for or defended the IBF title which requires a second day weigh in the morning of the fight. 10 lbs. The IBF didn’t abolish the weigh in clause for unifications until Aug 2017.

Its called ginger balls putting a rehydration clause in. Ibf only do it for unification fights?

        what is worse...

        1) a 10lb rehydration clause for the 175lb killer Sergey Kovalev
        2) a 164lb catchweight for the no-hoper Steve Rolls

Kovalev did not have to cut weight... so, /story

the golov-kids are just crying their little eyes out over nothing

        which is truly hilarious
The GGG hater compares a tune up fight between GGG and Rolls with no title at stake with a world title fight fight. That is parhetic and stupid. Nobody was talking about GGG until you dragged him into the thread to hate on him, GGG always defended his middleweight title. Canelo is the catchweight king who created the 155 pound weight class a few years back. I hope Kovalev KOs Canelo.

Ward was much worse and Dawson was stupid to agree to it. Ward had Dawson come down to his weight. He should have called himself lil w, the hypocrite.

You have seen the weigh in so no more stalling. What is your prediction? Who wins the fight and how?

Before the fight, Dawson and his coach said he had no problem making weight. Dawson also wanted to enter the 168 lb tournament when Taylor got flattened and Dirrel chickened out. He said he was a natural 168 lber fighting at 175..pretty much the same as Bivol is saying right now. You'all forgot how hard Dawson was campaigning to get into that 168 tournament. Ward started his career at 160, and settled at 68 after a few fights. Fact of the matter is, Ward did not request anything of Dawson, so don't put this on Ward.

The clause or judges won’t save Canelo, with no Tony Weekes to favor the star fighter like with Ward vs Kovalev; Canelo will be getting knocked out!

People are sleeping on how Teddy Cruz and Mcgirt being the X factor for Kov’s victory!

Kovalev should go in there with no respect for Alvarez, teach him that there are weight classes for a reason!

This is true, I'm not sure if people are purposely "forgetting" this, genuinely forgetting, or if they're just new to the sport and ignorantly comparing apples to oranges.

To the point of the thread though, a 175lbs fighter going down to 168lbs is generally worse, but Ward didn't drag Dawson down, he just accepted the scenario that most benefitted him.

Canelo at least is moving up and avoiding a cathweight (and not stipulating a specific in ring weight limit on Kovalev). Having a second day weigh in the morning of the fight is not the end of the world, but it could potentially affect Kovalev negatively.

Dawson is the one who called out Ward and offered to come down to 168lbs.
