Amazon world headquarters is a much different beast. It’s not some random factory.

My hometown of peoria was the longtime world headquarters to Caterpillar, one of the biggest companies in the world and member of the dow Jones. The last 20 years, Illinois anti-business liberal environment has made Cat flee the state in a massive exodus. It has a HUGE HUGE HUGE negative impact in the central Illinois area.

Same thing for Detroit, look at what happened when corporations left.

People don’t realize the tax breaks are nothing compared to the amount of tax revenue a major world headquarters generates for the surrounding area
Hotels are filled
Airports busy
Restaurants around HQ explode
Car dealerships explode
Shopping explodes
Construction explodes
The fine arts like symphony and ballet, etc are funded
All the local charities get well taken care of
Property values increase across the board, which in turn generates more tax revenue



This is an astronomical blunder by the local democrats. Matt Tabbitti and many other journalist have wrote articles about how towns and states give all these tax breaks and other subsidized kickbacks to many of these mega corporations to set up shop in their area and making the companies additional millions from tax payer money because all of the breaks they recieve and usually the only thing the area gets in return are basically almost all part time low paying minimum wage jobs that pay so little and give their Workforce so few hours that many have to go on food stamps and other assistance to get by ,!what the area receives compared to what they have to give up its a loss for the community and the Business is the only one winning in this equation.

But you guys seem to be fine with your taxes going towards Making the CEO even richer while the community you live in doesn’t gain a thing from them being there in fact it ends up being a loser $ wise for the community . So f.ucking brainwashed by big business that you’d prefer they get even richer off your tax $ essentially just a fancy form of welfare for these businesses while at the same time have the community you live in actually having negative effects from them being there

I don’t get the whole filming/taxing thing.

In my mind film crews shouldn’t be taxed, outside of whatever permits needed, as they are outsiders who will spend cash in the local area while they are there, and also the state shouldn’t be subsidize it the film crews either.
