  • The great, the greatness, the best fighter of the 90's - Pernell Whitaker

The great - Ended Chavez unbeaten record.

The greatness - Beat a prime De La Hoya when he was past his prime.

The best fighter of the 90's - What wins did Roy Jones have that were better than a prime Chavez and De La Hoya?

He was far from his prime when he lost to Tito.

Roy Jones was the fighter of the 90's for me.

Whitaker was on the slide for a lot of the 90's.

Roy Jones Jr was the top fighter of the 90s.

Pernell had his prime in his lightweight days.

He was great for the first half of 90's, but started fading after that. He didn't beat Oscar, you could argue a draw at best..Roy was fighter of the 90's..

No argument here. He was the best of his time.

                And yes he beat Oscar.

                    Sweet Pea 1990-1999:

                    1. Became undisputed lightweight champion
                    2. Beat Chavez (if you know what you're watching, #2 p4p, HOF, ATG)
                    3. Beat Buddy McGirt 2x (who was ranked p4p top 10)
                    4. Beat Azumah Nelson (top 10 p4p, hof, ATG)
                    4. 9 title defenses of the lineal welterweight title
                    5. Won titles at 140 and 154, beating the #1 ranked fighter at 154
                    6. Arguably beat Oscar (majority of the press scores had him winning for you history revisionists)

I'm a Roy Jones stan boy but he is not ****ing with Sweet Pea in any way shape or form. He gets props for Toney and Hopkins but he was nothing ever more than a title holder in his division. Sweet Pea was lineal champion in 2 weight classes and won titles in 2 more.
