  • Tucker-Armenta Headlines “TNT’s Toys for Tots” December 11!

Westminster, MD – A very special night it will be Friday December 11 at the Shipley Arena when USBO Light Heavyweight champion Mark “TNT” Tucker headlines an exciting night of boxing, where fans can enjoy an action packed card and help out those in need.

Tucker, 12-0 (7 KO’s), makes his first title defense against hard hitting instate rival George “El Gallo” Armenta. The Eldersburg, MD based Tucker has victories over title challengers Rubin Williams and Ross Thompson, pounding out decisions in both fights. Dubbed by local media as “the franchise” due to his large fan base, Tucker returns to the Shipley Arena for a fifth consecutive time.

Armenta, 13-4 (11 KO’s), of Silver Springs, won seven of his last eight fights and enters the ring with an array of confidence. The hard hitting Armenta holds victories over world title challenger Irving Garcia, 2000 Olympian Dante Craig and dropped a controversial majority decision to WBA Junior Middleweight champion Yuri Foreman. Armenta has promised to end Tucker’s night early.

The Tucker-Armenta USBO Light Heavyweight title fight will take place over ten rounds.

With Christmas coming only two weeks after fight night, Toys for Tots representatives will be on hand throughout the evening to collect donations. All ticket holders are encouraged to bring toys no longer in use to help make this Christmas enjoyable for the less fortunate.

“Any time we can provide fans with excellent entertainment and help out the needy at the same time it’s a win win situation”, said promoter Mark Tucker Sr. “Last time we fought at the Shipley we had a record crowd and if we can bring in another large crowd, I expect there to be enough donations to help out countless underprivileged families.”

Hot prospect James “Keep em Sleepin” Stevenson, 12-0 (10 KO’s), of Baltimore, MD tops a talented undercard and will appear against North Carolina’s John Williams in a six round junior middleweight contest. An excellent boxer-puncher, Stevenson is rated amongst the elite prospects in the Beltway Region.

Also slated to appear in separate bouts are former elite amateurs Emmanuel “Transformer” Taylor, “Slick” Nick Kisner, and Adam Willett. Local favorites Allan Perkins “Pit Bull” Perkins and Omar Sims will respectively appear four round middleweight bouts.

Individual ticket prices range from $15-125. VIP mini tables of four are going for $300 and VIP seating for ten ranges from $750-1250. All VIP ticket holders will get free Hor’dourves from 7-8 PM.

Tickets can be ordered by calling 443-277-2256 or 240-401-5885. Tickets are also available on location at No Anchovies Pizza in Taneytown, MD, All Landscape Supply in Westminster, MD and Athens Health Club in Eldersburg, MD.

The Shipley Arena is located at 706 Agriculture Center Dr. in Westminster, MD. Doors open at 6:30 and the opening bell is scheduled for 8 pm.

Since their inaugural card in February 2009, TNT Promotions 21 helped spring boxing to life in Northern Maryland. They have hosted four shows at the Shipley Arena, bringing in a larger crowd each time they returned. TNT 21 also has the exclusive promotional rights to USBO Light Heavyweight champion Mark Tucker.

At first I thought he was related to Tony "TNT" Tucker but evidently not.
