Is Jim Lampley the biggest Gennady Golovkin fanboy in the boxing media right now? In his recent episode of the fight game Jim Lampley compared GGG's loss to Canelo Alvarez to Muhammad Ali's first loss to Joe Frazier. In his comparison he calls GGG the "people's champ" because more people saw Golovkin as the rightful winner of his match with Canelo. He says it was similar to Ali's loss to Frazier because even though Frazier had defeated Ali in a close decision Ali was still the more popular and more loved champion. He also went on to say losing doesn't matter if you win in the eyes of the fans.
I think this comparison was silly and showcases his extreme bias because GGG is nowhere near as accomplished as Ali was and he is nowhere near as popular. Hell, he's not even more famous than Canelo is.
How can Lampley make such an asinine comparison?
