Conor Mcgregor must have suffered one of the biggest downfalls not only in MMA history, but sports history. (other examples include OJ Simpson, Lance Armstrong, Ronda Rousey etc).
Imagine Conor had retired after defeated Eddie Alvarez and winning those two belts. He could have easily repaired his image by acting humble and his legacy would have been perfect.
Conor made the huge mistake of fighting Khabib at UFC 229. Yes he made heaps of money, but he destroyed his public image, as well as his masculinity. He was mauled and absolutely humiliated infront of literally the whole world.
Just so you get an idea of how big the fight was, think of how big Ronda rousey vs Holly Holm or Conor vs Aldo was. This fight sold double those numbers, 2.5 million to be exact.
The whole world saw him get dropped with a right hand, picked up and slammed, ground and pounded, apologising by saying its only business, and tapping out. Not only that, two of Khabib's cornermen jumped inside the cage and attacked him.
This has to be easily the worst night and worst mistake Conor ever made. Now everytime he posts on social media, he will deal with countless images and GIF's of him tapping out, being pounded, and being called a coward, fraud, disgrace, chicken, ***** etc.
Even the Irish Newspaper made the headlines and it was called "Conor's an Irish *****"
