  • Comments Thread For: Arum on Lopez's Future: Garcia and Davis Are Big Fights - Haney is Not!

Teofimo Lopez figures to have several high profile and lucrative options moving forward following his huge win to unify lightweight world titles. He won a unanimous decision over the favored Vasiliy Lomachenko, viewed by many as boxing's No. 1 fighter in the world pound for pound going into their Oct. 17 showdown inside the conference center at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Lopez started fast and finished with a very strong 12th round to win by scores of 119-109, 117-111 and 116-112.

So Ryan Garcia is worthy of a shot, in spite the fact that hes only participating in a WBC lightweight title eliminator against Luke Campbell, but the actual champion, Devin the 'Dream' Haney is not a 'Big' fight?

The cause for this backward-thinking and political manipulation is due to that overraed-Euro-Bum, Vasily Lomachenko. Mandatories, are sometimes a good thing, in this instance it certainly would be. Unfortunately, the 'Franchise' champ does not have such obligations.

I just hope that Teo, who's been vocal about his questionable 'undisputed' title, will not hide behind the benefits of the title in question ( Franchise belt ). Lopez just spoke against Gervonta Davis for facing a proven multi-weight champion in Leo Santa Cruz, so I think that he would be contradicting himself by fighting a unproven-scrub in Ryan Garcia, over the actual WBC lightweight champ.

Lopez senior has said that they are about moving forward not backwards, if they fight a contender for the WBC lightweight title, over the real-champ, thats two-steps backwards.

Ryan Garcia is the shot caller.. Oscar will not allow him to fight on ESPN, if Oscar wants the fight at any point it will have to be on DAZN or PPV worthy.

This is Arum at his best. Steer his fight away
from anyone out the stabe who could be a major threat. Thats wack.

This is what I thought would happen! Arum wants Hearn destroyed! Haney is on ice! Since Haney is out, I would rather see Lopez vs. Davis, and Haney vs. Garcia! Tank...MAN UP! If Tank swerves, Lopez should go after Pedraza on PR Parade Day Weekend @ MSG! Berlanga is in the building, so it will be lit! Salute to Fat Joe! Keep that kid well grounded!

If Tank shows up and shows out against LSC then a fight between him and Teo would be HUGE IMO

Because that’d be a real shocker if tank beat Santa Cruz easily and really set up that fight with Lopez with such a statement victory

Well here we go again. Teo v Haney is for undisputed and we have another American based promoter talking it down for personal reasons.

Its not fighter v fighter it's promoter v promoter and if Arum is worried that another promoters fighter can relieve his fighter of belts he doesn't want to make the fight.

Haney v Lopez is clearly a good fight which should happen. But old timer Bob don't want it just incase it's a win for Eddie Hearn. PATHETIC.

You already know! Not quite Fury vs. Wilder, because no foreign money, but might just be on same level with Spence vs. Crawford! Can you imagine the push from ESPN?

Ryan ain't a big fight yet either.

Ryan & Devin are both potential big fights right now. And Devin is the more compelling fight til we see what Ryan can do vs Luke.

Tank vs Teo is the only big fight that could happen next at 135.
