THe US and its allies won almost every single battle, but they lost the political war. The Tet offensive was seen as the turning point, even though the NVA and the VC lost heavily in that major battle, it was the news casters like Walter Cronkite, that made it seem like the war was unwinnable for America, when it was basically almost victory, changing the hearts and minds of Americans.

Yes, just like the US almost lost the Korean War on the political scale. Even though the US won almost all the battles, but the US population was getting restless. That's a prime example.

So, when people here that said the US military didn't lose in Vietnam, but the will of the nation lost, they are correct, that is the political side, because American politics answers to the will of the people. Not only does the military side has to achieve the decisive battles, but it needs to be backed up by the political side.
