Why are people so passionate about sports teams?

I asked my friend the same thing and he said that he is part of the club since he pays money to watch, buys tickets & Jerseys and without the supporters there are no players.

I find it really strange how he would shake and stuff whilst watching his team play due to nerves. He says we won, but I'm ike puto you never won, you were sitting at home drinking beer, not on the pitch playing
