Ortiz dominated Jennings, he rocked him twice (no way Jennings won that many rounds) before knocking him down, then rocked him one more time before the fight was stopped in 6.

Thompson had never been dominated like that aside of Klitschko, didn't touch the canvas once against Pulev or Takam, the fight ended in 6, very easy work.

Let's be real, you aren't really a threat at HW unless you've got knock out power. The chances of a pure boxer beating these guys is slim to none.
Thompson was 45 at the time of fighting Ortiz. 45.
The same age as Foreman was fighting Moorer. And Foreman was behind on all the cards.

Jennings landed 146 of 327 punches for a connect percentage of 42%, according to CompuBox stats. Ortiz connected on 128 of 441 punches for 29%.

Thompson was still capable of going the distance with Takam & Pulev in his 40's though and capable of beating Solis (only loss to Vitali when he tore his knee). Ortiz handled him very easily, far more than Takam/Pulev

Jennings was landing some punches but nothing that deterred Ortiz or hurt him, Jennings was hurt in the 1st & 3rd round, knocked down, and then the ref jumped in prior to another 6th round knock down.

Ortiz has been fighting similar level opponents to Wlad, Chisora, Pulev, Pedvetkin, Takam, Parker etc. and out performing all his peers.

Yes, Vidondo was a world star.
So was Byron Polley.
Daniel Martz also a big name.
David Allen world class boxer.
Malik Scott was coming off one year of inactivity.

Thompson literally gave up after being tapped on the head vs Wlad in their 2nd bout, he showed up for a paycheck.

Look at this "vicious" knockout lol, Wlad barely landed 2 punches

[Link View Has Been Removed. Click Here To Unlock This Content.]

Their first fight went 11 rounds before he got stopped.

Afterwards Pulev, Takam, Scott all took him 12, never touched the canvas once. Against Ortiz he was dropped 3x for an easy 6th round KO.
Right! Let me apply this same logic too then:

Malik Scott was also already badly hurt by Dereck Chisora and then dropped and the referee came in and stopped the fight, saving Scott's life.

See how easy that was?

Chisora was down on the scorecard? Irrelevant and doesn't matter, since it was a 12 round fight. And being down on the scorecards in a 12 round fight means nothing until the fight is actually over. Since things can change very quickly, as it did with Dereck Chisora dropping Scott.

Bryant Jennings also beat the count when Ortiz dropped him and got stopped on his feet. So utter speculation that somehow Chisora's stoppage over Scott was an 'early' stoppage but somehow Ortiz's stoppage over Jennings was not an early stoppage and somehow Jennings life would've ended if the fight wasn't stopped. I could just as easily reverse this and say Chisora would've also ended Scott's life if the fight wasn't stopped too.

Thompson spent 17 rounds in total with Wladimir Klitschko and took a sustained beating, before getting stopped twice. That affects a boxer's durability for future fights. Not just the knockout, but the actual sustained damage taken.

So Ortiz stopping a less durable Thompson after he had already been stopped multiple times before and already being faded from accumulation of punches taken throughout his career, means literally nothing. If Ortiz couldn't beat that version of Thompson, then Ortiz would have to be well below average as a boxer.
