to be fair, the semis haven't happened yet, Dirrell is injured, Kessler is injured, Taylor is semi-retired, Stieglitz is a puzzy

so who does that leave available ?

that's why it's all speculation for now

as for Magee, his record isn't very impressive

he has beaten Cherifi, former middleweight, and Mad Larsen, once a highly regarded prospect I believe

his losses are to Reid, Tsypko... and Froch (KO11)

I don't have any issue with Bute fighting this guy, but I really wish Showtime wouldn't have signed him to the 3 fight deal. Would have much rather seen a few strawweight/flyweight fights on Showtime for the cost of this throwaway fight.

It seemed no one else saw the downsides of this 3 fight deal besides me.

Jean Pascal called him numerous times, Bute has always declined, maybe Martinez, if he wants to move up. I can't believe they can find better opponents than Magee and Brinlkey...

I see the upside : Bute will be fighting Super sixers (...) in his next 2 bouts
