Though people downplay the Contender, it got a lot of people back into boxing and I think it was important. I remember I was getting into MMA at the time and was bored with boxing. The contender was a fight show that my girlfriend would actually watch with me and got me back into boxing. Even though it the players involved weren't "important" so to speak.
