  • Comments Thread For: Josh Warrington May Vacate IBF Title, Fight Gary Russell Jr.

Josh Warrington could give up his IBF featherweight title in order to pursue a fight with either Gary Russell Jr or Can Xu in April. Warrington will defend the title against Mauricio Lara on February 13, a date he had originally hoped to box Can, the WBA champion. But the Chinese boxer was reluctant to box without fans present and Eddie Hearn, Warrington's promoter, fears that the IBF will turn down a request for a unification fight in April and order him to face his mandatory challenger, Kid Galahad.

I'm glad that the IBF does not let these European-Bums hold titles hostage. For example, that no-good Tyson Fury was stripped of his IBF world-championship 10 days after the Klitschko bout, as he was unable to grant a fight with the IBF's mandatory challenger, Vyacheslav Glazkov, due to a rematch clause in his contract with Klitschko.

Ultimately, when we found out that Tyson had cheated Christian Hammer by abusing steroids', fans who held contempt towards the IBF, for stripping the Gypsy-Bum were silenced.

This call-out by Josh Warrington is fake, everyone knows that Gary Russell jr. does not fight champions.

Josh wasn’t the one who didn’t want to fight Xu without his fans present (From what have heard), Josh moved from ol fish eye to Hearn, but so far not good. And it’s not like matchroom haven’t been putting cards on.

Just rematch Galahad instead of this Lara scrub. Get the mandatory out the way and unify with Xu or GRJ in the summer.

          Should have stayed with Frank...

The guy he beat in Frampton has bigger fights lined up than him.

. “It’s a WBC world title, he’s No 2 in the Ring Magazine. I like the Garry Russell fight. It’s a WBC world title, he’s No.2 in the Ring Magazine and I love that fight. Warrington is ready to go now, he wants something major and really wants to test himself."

He wouldn't even unify with a green fighter like Stevenson so he definitely wont fight Russell.

Because he can lose to Galahad
