I'd say no because there have been some surprisingly good horror movies in the last year or so
But for the love of god we need less jump scares and more creating tension / fear through other means. Don't Breathe did an excellent job with this imo.
I've learned to appreciate horror movies as I got older and recently watched Annabelle 2 which was pretty good. A lot of CGI that provided the biggest scares. Some of the scares were predictable and some of the same old stupid people in their stupid decisions made the movie super predictable.
Do you think everything has been done in the horror movie genre? Will there be a movie that comes out that will transcend horror movies in general? How do you view horror movies today?
I recently saw "The Monster Project". The concept was pretty good, but it could use some more production money, and the end was somewhat nonsensical. It was an interesting watch until the end.
