People respect Winky more for various reasons etc. I like him.

He's simply not a patch on Calzaghe though.

Calzaghe is still regarded as one of, if not THE best EVER super middleweight. Above that of Eubank, Benn.

Winky may have faced stronger competition and gotten respect for that, but like ODL, he simply lost too many fights.

Calzaghe beat Hopkins, he'd have also beaten Winky. No question.
Joe fought in the WBO version of a DEAD division.

Just think how many fights he would have lost if he had balls to leave WBO land..

Winky won his first title at 22....what was Joe doing at that age???

Winky was an excellent fighter...Joe had a leaky defense and couldn't even throw a proper punch..

          Legacy-wise, it's Calzaghe and it's not close.

******o statements. winky lost 1 fight until his late 30's(he clearly beat vargas/simon) official decisions mean jack squat watch the damn fights. the only reason he lost those fights is because he was the b-side and the only reason calzaghe beat hopkins/reid was because he was the a-side. pretending that boxrec is the be all end all is a disservice to those boxers. calzaghe retired when he was 36 so he gets extra points for not fighting tough competition? makes no sense.

first of all using triangle theory is stupid but how can you use triangle theory for a fight calzaghe clearly should have lost? hopkins shut him down for the first 8 rounds. he couldn't even hit him and hopkins landed all the clean punches. save the he "won" on work rate nonsense. yeah he "beat' hopkins by throwing punches that didn't land so i guess he could probably beat winky by throwing punches that landed on his gloves while getting beaten to a pulp with jabs and straight lefts. what a great "victory" that would be huh?

as long as boxrec says a guy won that's all that matters right? well williams beat lara boxrec says so. sorry lara you weren't popular enough to win! sorry wink you weren't as popular as calzaghe. all your efforts are null in void. fighting and beating tough competition for most of your career wasn't good enough. you got surpassed by a ducker who couldn't even punch correctly because he was undefeated in a terrible division.
