Nice. I like Callum Smith and this will be his coming out party.

Dirrell got heart but he sucks. Only if he had his brother's talent.

Kind of surprised but not really thought I saw something about Dirrell not wanting to go to the UK and i'm sure his management know he's a non-factor w/o a belt

Thats a lot of money to throw away on a bum like Dirrell, but this is Haymon were talking about here.

Can't wait for this one. We'll finally have the chance to see if Smith is the real deal or not.

Comments Thread For: Anthony Dirrell-Callum Smith: TGB Wins Purse Bid - $1.6 Million

The WBC announced Sunday that TGB Promotions has won a purse bid for its Anthony Dirrell-Callum Smith super middleweight title fight. TGB Promotions a Sherman Oaks, California, company that will promote the fight on behalf of Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions won with a whopping bid of $1.6 million, presumably to keep the fight in the United States. England's Smith (22-0, 17 KOs), the WBC's No. 1 super middleweight contender, and the second-ranked Dirrell (30-1-1, 24 KOs), of Flint, Michigan, will fight for the unclaimed WBC 168-pound championship Badou Jack gave up last month.

Apparently Hearn bid $1.2million so tgb/Haymon won.

Hearn was planning to do it at anfield stadium in Liverpool, I would of thought he would try and win at all cost.

DeGale beat the better Dirrell in America though so he probably has faith smith can aswell.

depends on a lot of different moving parts, tbh

Main event or co-main to a bigger fight?
Does Dirrell-Smith headline it's own show (at $1.6m to secure the fight, the guess would be yes)? What does TGB think of putting with the fight (the Dirrell brothers, Tony Harrison, J'Leon Love, and Claressa Shields, with likely others in the Haymon orbit, are all from the Detroit area, so maybe taking a show to Michigan would make sense)? What does the TV look like (if the fight ends up being shown by PBC, you're likely looking at a 2am-4am airing in the UK, which isn't all the way horrible)? What does the travelling support look like for Callum Smith (if it does look like that Smith can bring a ton of money with him, the fight may end up in New York)? etc

                    in due time
