I like Louis' style much better than Ali's. But, stylistically it's just a bad match-up for him. If Joe fought on the outside he'd get outslicked. If he tried to burrow his way in he'd run into lots of combinations and take terrible punishment.
If we are talking about a prime Ali, I just don't see any way Joe Louis could win save for a lucky punch. I know it's besides the point but I think a Rocky Marciano would have a much better chance against Muhammad given his style was much more awkward and Frazier-like. But, he was superior IMO being he had two great hands and not just one. Not to mention a better chin than Louis. But, these debates are gonna go back and forth til the end of time cause everyone has their own take on this stuff.
