We get that Canelo is a draw, there's no disputing it but to say that GGG brings 'nothing to the table' is stupid. 150k buys against a non-USA and completely unknown like Lemieux is pretty impressive and made money. The sold out live gate almost paid the fighters. Kirkland may be what you call a 'bum' but he was a name and is from the USA, Texas to be exact. As you know, Texas is full of Mexicans who know who Canelo and Kirkland are.

So, it's all relative so stop being dumb.

    • ROBERT AND MIKEY GARCIA DEFEND COTTO & CANELO FOR NOT FIGHTING GOLOVKIN AT 160: "HE SHOULD MOVE UP"

      • Just wait till Canelo beats Cotto, and the world sees the belt in Canelo's gloves. Everybody knows he has to fight to keep that belt. Canelo's not going to look good giving it up over a 155 demand. He's not going to want to give up the belt voluntarily.

I'm assuming he's got enough balls to fight a voluntary against another MW and then fight Golovkin at 160.

There will be no voluntary unless K2/GGG allow it.
There will be no catchweight unless K2/GGG allow it.
Gotta figure either one of those scenarios involve a massive payment from GBP.
Cotto Canelo winner will have 15 days after the fight to decide what the want to do, fight GGG or be stripped.

Its cute that you honestly believe Team 97K have any leverage over Cotto or Canelo. Once Nov. 22 comes around; K2/GGG will be on the phone calling the winner begging for the fight.

Cotto and Canelo will demand 155, the fight will be at 157. It'll be 80/20 or 70/30 split and GGG will take the secondary position in all aspects of the fight. They'll smile like good boys and show up to fight. Cotto is a hall-of-famer and cares little for trinkets at this point. He doesn't even walk around with the Ring Mag belt.

Canelo at this pace will become a HoF fighter and has a whole lot of time in the game remaining. GGG is a flash in the pan. This is honestly how I see the immediate future

              Nov 21 - Cotto wins
              Cotto vs Voluntary; followed by
Cotto vs Canelo rematch; followed by
              Cotto vs Voluntary; followed by
              Cotto vs GGG

              or

Nov 21 - Canelo wins; followed by
              Canelo vs Voluntary; Followed by
Canelo vs Cotto rematch; followed by
              Canelo vs Voluntary; followed by
              Canelo vs GGG

GGG is small fry and no amount of posturing or NSB rage will change that fact

Canelo Cotto winner dumping that belt rather than defend vs the mandatory is a clear duck.
Golovkin is too good for either one of them and they know it's a stoppage loss if they get in the ring with the best in the MW division.

Canelo coach disagrees, he says "GGG is a great fighter with enormous prestige". And he does have leverage, that mando status. Now if Cotto wins, doesn't matter, the paper champ drops the belt and nobody gets hurt. If Canelo wins and drops the belt, its not a good look, esp since making 154 is hell for him
