Eddie Murphy's Nutty Professor is better than the original one
the remade Last House on the Left beats the original one
King Kong from a little bit back beats the original and the other remake

            no joke
was loving the creature/ape effects the new Kong
the modern age effects just made it look better
it's bloated as hell (length) and the new Driscoll sucks, but that's all
and it SHITS all over the one that's about oil

Scorsese's adaptation of 'Cape Fear' was superior to the original, IMO. As was De Palma's version of 'Scarface.'

Others that spring to mind include Cronenberg's remake of 'The Fly', Mann's version of 'Heat' (originally a TV movie titled 'LA Takedown'), Scorsese's 'The Departed' ('Internal Affairs'), and Carpenter's remake of 'The Thing.'

The remake was a bloated and soulless imitation of a seminal original. It's like saying that the Star Wars special editions are better than the original theatrical releases because the Stormtroopers were riding on lizards.

New Kong was alright but it simply isn't in the same league as the 1930s original.
