I'm pretty sure you get nothing special out of it. It's just the law, and the penalties for trying to draft dodge are severe.

When I lived in Korea, I knew one guy who was exempt from military service cuz of some condition.

They basically treated him like an outcast in society.

Maybe it's changed now.

I'd like to think the kids were more mature going to the military before college, but not really. Ha ha ha.
