Spence is the real deal and can only get better after fighting Brook
Spence has arrived! This kid impressed me, and will only get better. We haven't seen the best of him yet.
Points to ponder:
1. Spence was more patient than Brook.
a. This shocked me how he was even more composed than a veteran fighter like Brook. Picking his punches like a vet while he punished brook for all the unnecessary aggressiveness Brook did as Brook came forward. This tells me he is a confident fighter that knows what he is doing in the ring and can't easily be rattled. A trademark only found in great fighters.
2. This fight was tip for tat at the start, but Brook succumbed to Spence consistent pressure in the end.
a. It was a see-saw battle, ugly exchanges sometimes, but was exciting to see 2 fighters putting a show for the fans, not a lot of clinching, just straight up methodical, fast paced fighting. Props to both for giving us a fight.
3. I see Spence as a boxer who hasn't reached his limits yet. He has room for growth as he wins more significant fights, his confidence level will even grow higher, thus making him even more unstoppable. He still has a lot of errors, but his patience and understanding of the fight game is A level ,that he only needs to polish those k i n ks in his armor in the future. During the Brook fight, I felt like he was keeping his trump cards to himself at the start, and when he saw that he has methodically broke Brook's brownie eye's and saw an injured old dog. He turned it up a notch and put it on 5th gear and destroyed him. The guy knew how to pace himself, mark of a great fighter. He could have blitz Brook earlier, but he knew in the game anything can happen. Spence had more gears left to play. Brook had none left. Brook showed his cards early and was a one trick pony. Brook was predictable, and this time I can say Brook isn't really that great. His fighting style has a lot of heart, but his fighting style is not A level in my book.
$. Spence is the new face of boxing. He will carry it with Crawford. But see this 2 fight each other in a few more years as they build their careers some more. I just hope this guy keeps himself grounded and let his fist do the talking. Spence is the real deal. Still a rough diamond, but once it's Flawless, this kid will shock the world. Between Crawford and Spence, My vote is with this Kid.
