  • Comments Thread For: Juan Carlos Gomez Vows To Batter Wilson in Rematch

On Saturday night during Universum's Fight Night in Schwerin "The Black Panther" Juan Carlos Gomez (49-3, 37KOs) will get a chance at revenge when he faces Darnell Wilson (24-14-3, 20KOs) in a rematch. Last September, Wilson won a shocking ten round majority decision. Following the loss, Gomez revealed that he entered the fight with a serious shoulder injury. He underwent surgery after the fight and now he plans to make Wilson pay.

To lose to a palooka like Darnell Wilson is criminal, and he deserves to be locked away for it. I've always kept an eye on Gomez, ever since I saw him displaying such skill against Sinan Samil Sam. Even so, his record is good, 49-3, including a loss to Vitaly Klitschko, and a too casual KO 1 against Yanqui Diaz.

he actually had an injury that required surgery going into the fight but i'm assuming he needed the money & fought. his management team fired his trainer & handlers for not telling his promoters about the prefight injury. he should work him over in the rematch.

The trouble is that he's 39, and depends on speed as well as skill. He always seems to be too casual, with his arms dangling by his side depending on lightning combinations. He can't afford that now that he's lost his speed. And, although a KO' specialist, he's had only 2 stoppages in his last 10 fights. But Wilson is just a fist swinger, no skill at all, never had, and, as you say, Gomez should win easily. He was agreat cruiserweight champion.

I remember how he could have made himself into a top heavyweight attraction, and ruined himself with very bad decisions, including cocaine use.
