  • GGG vs Ward, who wins?

This fight should happen, but who wins?

  • #2
well Ward would have the advantage.... like he does in pretty much every other fight.

GGG would have to get around the 100+ clinches Ward would initiate and he would have to stop Ward because he isn't getting a decision in Oakland. (where it's going to be held)

Ward takes him to school with ease, he's already fought a much more powerful puncher (stronger/taller as well) and didn't have any trouble taking his shots. This guy voluntarily fought at 178 in the Olympics and won a gold medal against some very talented huge guys.

The SMW division is levels ahead of 160 in terms of talent, and there are some really big powerful fighters. And I can't think of a single fighter that carried their power up to SMW in recent years.

People forget Pavlik was KOing dudes mortal kombat style when they were still standing, Abraham was folding guys up like lawn chairs, Miranda was knocking guys out of the ring with a single punch, even Green was destroying guys.

Once these huge punchers moved up that power was gone, they lost their strength advantage over their opponent as well.

                Ward wins.

GGG is very good, but he NEEDS to be able to over-power his opponent. Ward has mastered leverage inside, it's part of the reason he clinches so much. Ward wins on the outside and he'll clinch when GGG gets close, then hold and hit for fun.

Good to see a bit of intelligence in the replies. Ward is just one of those rare guys you don't bet against. I think he'd beat Genady to the punch repeatedly to prevent the combos and shut him down.
