World Extreme Cagefighting will soon fold its light heavyweight and middleweight divisions into the UFC and will now feature just bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight classes.
The news was reported on Thursday by Yahoo! Sports.
Additionally, the WEC is considering pay-per-view events for 2009, possibly as early as May, and is also planning to hold more events next year than in 2008.
World Extreme Cagefighting’s next event, WEC 36 “Faber vs. Brown”, takes place on September 10th in Hollywood, Florida and is headlined by WEC featerweight champion Urijah Faber vs. Mike Brown.
