                  He was Champ in 1972 til 1974. Some (& I put the some in "") say he was better than Duran. We know he wasn't but as an up & comer he was really impressive.

                    I remember Gonzalez very well. He was very impressive winning the title from Carmona and there was talk of a Duran showdown. I saw him fight live on a card that Duran was also on in a non title fight. It was a surprise when he lost those two fights in Japan and then disappeared.
