  • Car theft in the US

Just watched a National Geographic show on it, $4 billion worth of stolen luxury vehicles a year exported to the Eastern Bloc by cartels. Every car breaker and junk yard in LA is apparently chopping up hot vehicles and sticking them in shipping containers to Russian federation/ Eastern Europe. Easy big money. How does anybody get insured for a BMW or Merc etc in and around LA? The Mexican cartels are also stealing every pick up they can in the US and moving it across the border for heavily armed gunmen to use. Cops don't have the manpower. A losing war and all the law abiding mugs are paying for it.

I used to work in insurance. Alot of it here in So Cal is insurance fraud too:

Cant pay off car loans, so they take it to Mexico or burn it then report it stolen
DUI hit and runs (they flee the scene then report it stolen)

we use to do it to the fixed up cars.

last time my friend had a fixed up prelude.

stripped it of everything new and worth something.

      put back on junkyard/used stuff.

report it stolen , torch it.

you get money from selling off the parts and the insurance money.
