    #1 America

    The super power of the world is at the first position in the race of rapes. Males are majorly the rapist holding a proportion of 99%. Out of all the victims, 91% are females while 9% are males. The U.S Bureau of Justice Statistics states that 91% of rape victims are female and 9% are male, and nearly 99% of rapists are male. According to the National Violence Against Women Survey, 1 in 6 U.S. women and 1 in 33 U.S. men has experienced an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime. More than a quarter of college-age women report having experienced a rape or rape attempt since age 14. Out of all, only 16% of the total cases are reported. Outdoor rape is not common in USA rather most of the rape cases takes place inside homes.

    What's wrong with you yanks? America named a rapist country?

        You realize how much are rape crimes under reported in Islamic countries? They will literally kill a woman there for being raped. Literally stoned to death for getting raped. Perpetrators get like what, 3 months in prison? Also reported rape crimes in Islamic countries are hid under the rug and not even considered as rape. It's considered something like, the woman's fault for showing her skin. She provoked men for wanting to have sex with her, therefore it's not rape.

        Another thing, this thread should be deleted. Why do you laugh your ass off at this news? What's so funny about rape and sexual assault?

          A couple things;

          1. A guy is significantly more reluctant to report a rape than a female is. That's even if he cares in the first place

          2. A significant enough portion of the female rapes are false accusations/convictions. Also, the theme in this country is that woman are not held personally responsible for their actions. If a girl gets drunk and decides to have sex, she was raped. But if a guy gets drunk...

              Nothing, just the fact that America is #1 in it is kinda funny. Well not really , but I didn't expect that many rapes to happen in the Global Superpower called America.

                    Doesn't surprise me, sadly enough. Most of the women/girls I've known throughout my life were victims of some form of sexual abuse or assault at some point in their lives.

                    Rape is about power and control. More often than not, perpetrators were one time victims of sexual abuse. American society is a very pressure-oriented, divisional state where the individual is constantly either made to feel "less than" his neighbor, who has more or taken advantage of by his other neighbors who have less while living in a state where job security, and therefore livelihood or "survival" is constantly under threat, therefore creating much insecurity and feelings of isolation or helplessness.

                    Add to that the constant bombardment of violence and negativity in the news, the violence in movies and video games and you also have a society gradually anesthitized to empathy for others, which, of course causes one to focus inwardly, excluding the feelings of and decreasing one's sense of humanity towards others.

                    Now, of course, this does not make everyone a rapist or criminal; but it does lay the psychological groundwork for those traits to emerge much easier in those individuals who also had the kind of childhood which fosters anything but a positive attitude towards life, much less the lives of others.

                    I would imagine, as some on here have alluded to, that the situation is either equally bad for women, or far worse in some fundamental Islamic states; but is not reported out of either fear of repercussions or compliance by the media, thinking that was the "norm".

                    The ultimate responsibility does lie with the individual; but only a fool would discount the psychological affects of the society one lives in and the atmosphere it creates. Any society which squashes the human spirit, creates an environ ripe for the release of the caged and pressured "animal" within.

                    If a society does not nurture humanity.....it will nurture it's counter point: inhumanity in all it's ills.
