  • Lewis v Tyson - your thoughts on the police presence

Lewis v Tyson - Lewis needed 30 police officers positioned corner to corner in the ring before and during the introductions so as Tyson could not intimidate him.. What are your thoughts on this:

tyson was a jail bird lunatic that would bite people, 30 police was nessesary. Too bad all that talking about eating his children didn't help cover the fact that lewis beat the living **** out of tyson.

There was no need for them to be there, it was just for publicity because of what happened with the pre fight events.

Never known this to happen before (that I can think of) and for me it took away a part of the fight.

For a jail bird lunatic he sure was humble after the fight, wiping blood from Lewis' face and holding / feeding the kid.

Why the hate on Mike ?.

Tyson had already bitten Lewis in the press conference.

Be grateful the commission didnt put a muzzle on him:

^ he wasn't humble, he had to be nice after getting beat up. You don't say you're going to eat somebodies children then try to act nice after the dad gives you a good ole fashioned beat down in front of everybody. What do you expect him to do after that? Act cocky?

Him and Lewis were friends for 15 years when the fight happened, in case you forgot this is boxing and a great fight needs promoting, nobody promoted a fight better then Mike and that was just part of it along with everything else he said, no doubt that Lewis knew this.

You honestly think that Lewis believed Mike was going to eat his children ? (If he has any).

He did plenty of things too promote a fight and they all worked, this was one of them.

Nobody *has* to be nice after a fight, they obviously knew each other for a long time which is why Mike shown his respect.

I always assumed that it was done for promotional purposes.A great marketing ploy to really excite the casual viewer, who still thought of Tyson as this invincible savage.A few highlight reels of his knockouts from fifteen years previous and some bizzare pre-fight qoutes on Tyson's part is all it took.

No Pacquiao/De La Hoya/Mayweather fight was ever bigger than this. They didn't need some lame reality series to sell this fight.Everyone I knew was interested and many still thought Tyson would knock him out.

Boxing was so great back ten-fifteen years ago.Every boxer back then seemed unique, had their own personalitiy, their own style. All these boxers today are just so bland, boring and generic.

Today we're stuck with bozo's like Andre Berto

It was due to the events that happened in the pre fight press conference.Surely they weren't there to stop Tyson's intimidation, that's a laugh.

The fight was promoted very good and I think this was still part of the event. It made for a cool atmosphere.
