Pride has officially announced the following non-tournament heavyweight matches for its August 10th show:

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Ricco Rodriguez


Emelianenko Fedor vs. Gary Goodridge

Mirko Cro Cop vs. Igor Vovchanchyn


MMAWeekly can report that Ricco Rodriguez is taking this fight in Pride as a representative of the UFC. He has not left the UFC. Additionally, there is still a possibility that Pride will add one more fight to the line-up, for a total of eight fights. If that happens, the two most heavily-rumored fights are Ryan Gracie vs. Daiju Takase and Heath Herring vs. Mark Coleman (or Herring vs. someone else).

Fedor vs. Goodridge will reportedly be a non-title match and has all the potential to be a great fight, like Fedor vs. Fujita. Fedor is tentatively scheduled to defend his title against someone on Pride's November 9th card (which will also feature the Grand Prix semi-finals and finals), but it's not known who it will be. It could be whoever looks more impressive in their August fights out of Minotauro and Cro Cop, and it would almost certainly be Goodridge getting the next title shot if he is able to beat Fedor in a non-title fight.

This is probably the best line-up ever for an MMA event, at least on paper. Both Pride and the UFC are looking like they're going to have absolutely stacked cards from now until the end of the year. It's certainly a great time to be a fan of MMA.
