  • Comments Thread For: Breazeale vows to be America’s next heavyweight hopeful

The heavyweight division hasn’t been kind to the United States in recent memory. Over a decade has passed since Hasim Rahman’s one-bout reign as lineal champion, and while Chris Byrd, John Ruiz, and Shannon Briggs have each secured a piece of the title at some point during this period, no American-born fighter has accomplished the feat in five years.

Dominic Breazeale, a 2012 Olympian, looks to throw his hat into the ring when he embarks on his pro career this Friday at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, Calif., as part of Showtime’s “Night of Olympians” card.

sad that he just wants to become a "hopeful". Shows how little confidence they have at getting a world strap

                Haha, any videos?

Seriously, I think boxing as an international sport really needs a proper American heavyweight contender.

Hey Breazeale is a waste of time, but Michael Hunter Jr. I've seen fight and definitely shows some good skill. Watch for him in the heavyweight division or maybe he's going pro at cruiser. In the olympics his legs went out on him in the first fight....smh.....but Hunter Jr. definitely has some promise. Don't know when his debut is.

He's a big rather unathletic guy who got a late start and doesn't possess any real skills.
