Sherdog.com is reporting that the scheduled UFC Title Unification fight between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir has been canceled as Mir will require surgery to repair an injured knee. Reports were first circulating that Mir injured his back, however it has now been confirmed that he in fact suffered a knee injury as well and it is that injury which will require surgery. The operation will sideline the UFC Interim Title holder for four to six weeks. The bout was originally scheduled to take place at the UFC 98 PPV on May 23rd.

Dana White says he doesn't know anything about it, so it's allegedly still a rumor. Reports are that Mir already had arthroscopic surgery to "clean up" his knee.

That better be true, because Lesnar deserves a rematch and Mir deserves a beating.

Injured Frank Mir Unable To Fight Brock Lesnar At UFC 98?
Chris Insinna
While there is little information available at this time, according to “multiple sources”, Frank Mir will not be competing at UFC 98 in his scheduled heavyweight unification title match against Brock Lesnar.
The report states that Mir has been dealing with a back injury which has stalled his training, and now may require surgery- never a good sign. However sources are reporting that it is a knee injury for which Mir recently underwent surgery, putting him out for approximately four to six weeks, and that the UFC has had no comment on these developments.
Although there has yet to be any word on a potential replacement opponent for Lesnar, I would imagine that the UFC would prefer to keep Brock on the card, otherwise lose some serious drawing power.
