For example, I got this random pic of this dude and invented a backstory.
His names Terrence. He lives in New York, he's single and plays the trumpet. He's a pleasant sorta dude, you know, always in a jolly mood. Some people condescend a little to Terrence cos, you know, he's a little overweight, a bit of a niceguy type, doesn't really listen to much modern music, but overall Terrence has a good fair amount of friends and gets by pretty decently.
Terrence has been in love with a chick called Keila for around 3 years now. They dated for a few months and have kept on and off contact, but never really hit it off in the way Terrence would like to. But Terrence, being a nice man, committed to waiting for her to come around rather than moving onto a chick who might hold more affection for him, has decided that even if it never happens, he's going to show Keila how much she means to him.
Terrence's favourite bands are Depeche Mode, Grandmaster Flash, and Paramore (he doesn't admit that to his friends, though, and keeps them on "unknown artist" in his iPod incase anybody is flicking through it). He listens to a little 90s rap but finds the lyrics somewhat offensive and unnecessarily misogynistic. He likes to watch tv and eat nachos, but he's had to cut down lately.
Either way, Terrence is a man who, despite his somewhat turmoil filled personal life, gets by well and improves the life of those around him. His parents are proud, even though his father thinks he should socialise and meet new women a little more, because he's 39 and still yet to settle down.
Will Terrence eventually prove to Keila that he's worth the time of day and sweep her off her feet, living the rest of his life in bliss that only a person like Terrence would be willing to make the effort for? Or will he die a somewhat bittersweet death, happy but never getting the girl? Or will he move on, start hanging out with K-Nan and GMitchell, hitting cocktail parties, older people get-togethers, restaurants and concerts start and scoring poontang and eventually meet a chick who he finds he has way more in common with than Keila?
Your speculations are welcomed.
