  • Greater Quality of Opposition: PACQUIAO or mayweather?

    Opponents both have in common:

Marquez - Two close fights with Pacquiao fought at JMM's prime weights. One fight with Mayweather at 144 lbs. (Mayweather showed up for the weigh in over the weight limit and outweighed Marquez over 15 lbs. on fight night).

De La Hoya - One split decision loss to Wifebeater (Mayweather ducked the re-match despite the huge money certainty). Lost every round against a cherrypicked lightweight Manny Pacquiao who was chosen because he was small.

Mosley - Past his prime against both. A leftover of Winky Wright, Vernon Forest, and Miguel Cotto. 15 months inactive in fight against Wifebeater. Poor performances before losing every round to friendly Pacquiao.

Hatton - a jr. welterweight who fought above his weight against Floyd and got TKOd on the tenth round of the welterweight fight. Undefeated in his natural weight against Pacquiao and lost his consciousness in the KO of the Decade, 2nd round.

    Different opponents:

    Mayweather:

Corley, Castillo, Ndou, Jesus Chavez, Baldomir, Judah. All non Hall of Famers. Definitely not 300 pound for pound of all time.

Corrales (non all-time great but possible Hall of Famer), Gatti (leftover of Ward and De La Hoya)

    Pacquiao:

KOd # 2 pound for pound ranked lineal featherweight champ Barrera (all time pound for pounder and Hall of famer).

Loss and 2 devastating wins against Morales (all time pound for pounder and Hall of Famer)

Destroyed Cotto (future Hall of Famer, possible top 100 pound for pounder)

Shut out 160 lbs. Joshua Clottey (not Hall of Famer)

Shut out 168 lbs. Margarito (to win 8th alphabet but not lineal title)

Maybe if Pacquiao's last few opponents were coming off wins, not weight drained, and don't have scrambled eggs left for brains.

Take out Mosley, Margarito and Clottey from Pac's resume and its still better than Floyd's.

Pacquiao has the better resume and it's not even close.
