Rakim just released a decent effort.
Mos Def's "Ecstatic."
Methodman and Redman just released Blackout 2.
Torae and Marco Polo's "Double Barrel" is good.
Common Market released an EP, as did Brother Ali.
Apathy dropped a pretty nice album, so did Blame One and MF DOOM.
People Under the Stairs did, too.
All this year except for the first one mentioned.
There's more, but I'll stop here.

No hip hop is not, times change. And from what I see people don't. You can't expect hip hop music to sound like it did in the past, if it does, that means the **** is extremely out dated.

You can judge these things by *****. Who would get the most *****, a famous rockstar, equally famous boxer, or equally famous rapper?
I would say the rapper would get the most *****-- maybe not the same quality as the rockstar in terms of race, but certainly in terms of quantity rapper wins hands down.
So technically speaking, boxing is more dead than rock but since I like boxing, I will abstain from answering this question.
