I'm too lazy to think of anyone other than Marciano.

I'd have to say Marciano and Lennox Lewis for one. I'd heard Gene Tunney did but I never really followed his career. It's quite rare for someone to retire at the top of their game because most of them never know when the right time to quit is.

Marciano, Lewis, I guess Calzaghe too, since he stayed unbeaten and I imagine Mayweather too, since he says he plans on retiring in about 2 years and has a pretty good resume, probably the best fighter of his era overall, from his debit in 1996 to about 2014 I would guess.

Perhaps Marvin Hagler. I know he went out on a loss, but he was still pretty much at his best, and lost a very close and contested fight.
