Hugo Luis vs Koki Kameda - 26 million viewers

The pre fight show earlier that week scored 15 million viewers

It came third for the week out of all stations, just behind Japan figure skating 23 million and the news 21 million.

Japan is an underrated boxing nation. Boxing is fairly big there.

I've been saying that all along. People are just too focused on US/Brit side of things.

The tv ratings site I get this off of only as of this week recognises boxing as a top five sport in Japan, meaning they now have ratings section dedicated only to boxing along with soccer, baseball, running and golf. It shows the ten top boxing matches in Japanese history. Basically it means boxing has accumulated a total number of viewers as to be considered top of the range programming.

Like others said, boxing in Japan is very underrated. They produce some exciting stars too, but they don't come to America to fight as often.

More evidence that boxing's potential is huge. We gotta get our sh-t together, which is, of course, easier said than done.

Tyson vs Douglas is the 6th most watched boxing match in Japanese history with 38 million. Now I remember people trying to say the Japanese didn't even know who Tyson was.
