Margarito and Williams myth is such a fallacy. The Margarito ****e was pure Arum at his greatest. He created that hype out of thin air. He had his media lackeys pull a bunch of crap out of nothing and turn it into 'Margarito is the most feared man alive'. It was hilarious.

Considering it was through 2006, 2007 and 2008 that he had his greatest years, biggest fights and best achievements I'd say that it destroys any talk of being avoided.

He fought Clottey in 2006, lost to another top rated fighter Williams in 2007, and then beat Cotto in 2008. All top fighters, all the best in their division. So, exactly where is the 'avoiding' taking place? Oh, wait, you're talking about Mayweather and all the media that surrounded that fight? One fight, one fighter and suddenly he's avoided by the whole division and everyone around it, all the while fighting the top guys in it somehow. Go figure that one out.

Then we have Williams. Another BS story of avoidance. 2008, he lost to Quintana. In the middle of 2008 he was rematching him. Quintana-world champion and top rated fighter. He finished 2008 by moving up and beating WBO interim champ Phillips, before facing hits biggest name and one of the greatest of recent decades Wright. Then, to finish 2009 he fought top 154 fighter Martinez. He then fought Kermit Cintron former champ and top rated 154 pounder to start 2010 before fighting once again the best 160 pounder and top P4P entrant, losing by KO.

So, again, all bull****. He spent those exact years he was meant to be avoided fighting the very best those divisions had to offer. He lost fights and won fights in those times, so I don't know where avoidance comes into it. Usually fighters that are avoided are destroying their comp making them all look second rate.

Agree - Williams were not avoided, neither were Margarito. Williams has such a smalll following.
