Should have had a rubber match with SRL

You try chasing a guy around the ring while holding in a massive diarrhea explosion in front of millions of viewers, its not easy.

Duran cleaned out a division at lightweight. He then beat Leonard in his prime. He held his own with Hagler at middleweight when he started at lightweight. People overlook that Duran was by far the smaller man in the fabulous four. Leonard, Hearns and Hagler all had a lot of size on him. Look at his fight with Iran Barkley- truly like David and Goliath. And Leonard didn't do himself any favors by coming back and getting stopped by Camacho. Duran beat Camacho the first time around and went 24 rounds with him without so much as being wobbled. Duran had a 35 year career which is nearly unheard of and not even showing any signs of brain damage. Leonard fought off and on for fifteen years and then came back five years later against Camacho. Duran had 119 fights while Leonard had 40. Duran came back time and time again after being written off after the Leonard rematch. Roberto beat HOF fighters in Ken Buchannan, Pipino Cuevas, Leonard and Carlos Palomino and Esteban Dejesus twice. Leonard beat Benitez, Hearns and Hagler which is great. Both are great but Duran proved himself much more. Duran also never ran his a$$ off in fights. Leonard started the track meet.

Sugar Ray Robinson is the greatest all time because he could
box at an extreme high level and also punch with power in either hand.
Duran was a pressure fighter who boxed his way in with excellent foot and hand speed, had upper body movement and put punches together in a series that was effective against different opponents. He could box and punch!

He is a top five lightweight who holds wins over other contenders and champions in other weight classes.

Pressure style from a boxers stance and a relentless will to wear down his opponents.
One of the best boxers to watch in his prime!

        Ray

Is he? I think it's quite debatable really.

I'd personally have Leonard higher. In only a fraction of the fights he achieved more than Duran did and was the better all round fighter.

Leonard's resume is excellent but not untouchable. Duran was smaller and beat Leonard in their first fight. Hearns was robbed in the rematch with Leonard and should have been the winner.I think Leonard was 34 years old when Norris beat the hell out of him and sent him into retirement. Duran was still winning world titles when he was older than 34. I think Duran should be ranked above Leonard as an all time great. If you think Leonard should be higher then put him higher than Duran. It's not against the law. Other people also rank Leonard higher than Duran. It's just opinion and not proven fact.

Duran fought in so many decades it's ridiculous, and was adored worldwide and an icon for the downtrodden, poor and disenfranchised. SRL was too, but not like Duran.
