    On 2/5/1943, Sugar Ray Robinson, giving up 15 lbs, suffered his first loss to Jake LaMotta. Amazingly, they fought a rematch just 21 days later. Even more amazing, Robinson fought a tough 10 round match against Jackie Wilson in between these two fights. I guess he was worried about getting rusty from inactivity.

    Thats when it was a full time job, even for the champions! They fought ALL the time, its who they were! Ray.

            I had a feeling someone would say that. I wouldn't say all boxers are, but a good damn lot of them are. As any sport progresses though, the next generations always have it a little easier to add to longevity and safety of competitors.
