after watching some of his fights,i dont see anything in the jab that really stands out,

Rocky Marciano actually said that it was the best left jab he had ever seen. Personally I don't think he utilized it as much as the truly great jabbers, more so using it as a range-finder or to set up his combinations. But it was a very, very good jab. He was outjabbing Joey Maxim at 175, and Maxim was known for his jab.
